First Lesson Complete 10+ Points

I installed this software today and used it for the first time. Your instructions are very good, and I had no problems at all with the process and getting it up and running. Do you have a user guide to accompany this app?

Kris,
Thank you for downloading and using CAPTUER. We are happy to the instructions were easy to follow and allowed you to get it up and running. The only instructions we have are the ones that come around installing. Page 3 of the PDF has the following instructions for use of the tool.

Using CAPTUER
1) IF “Captuer” appears in the menu bar THEN click on Captuer
a) If not…Click on Show Taskpane located on the far right of the MS Word ribbon and then click
on Captuer
Note: The CAPTUER application user interface should now be open
2) Click “Score” at the left of the new Captuer ribbon to start the program
3) Click Start to run CAPTUER on the file.
4) Recommend using “Save-As” and adding CAPTUER to the end of the file name to prevent messing
up the master procedure file
Some Tips for operation…
• If a procedure or file is NOT in the .docx format:
o Open the file in Word (or other Microsoft product)
o “Save-As” a Word Document (.docx)
o CAPTURE should work on the file
• Don’t worry if the number of identified error traps is high as it finds most error drivers EXCEPT:
o Multiple Actions
o Embedded actions in a note, caution, warning, precaution, or limitation
o Misplaced notes, cautions, or warnings
• You can remove identified traps from the list by:
o Select the Trap in the scoring tool
o Select the term you want to accept
o Click on the term to isolate one use of the term
o Click the magnifying glass to go to the term in the doc
o Click on the check mark to “accept” this usage of the term
o Once you do this, when you hit the “reset” arrow and run the process again it will
remove this instance of the term from the list and from the document
• I open the “Review” tab and add comments the first few times an error driver is found in the procedure

Kris - it may not be intuitive but on the right side after you run the scoring you can hit the question mark on a error driver and it gives you the definition and how to repair them. In addition, people have found it helpful to take one of the courses online here. I hae gifted you the Effective Written Guidance for Reviewers, Approvers, and SMEs and I hope this helps and you enjoy it - Rob
